MORE ANIMALS

The animal world is an interesting topic for children. Our students have already known the name of a lot of them. In English we are reviewing this theme, because we studied animals in the Science subject in the second term. Anyway, in English we are going to study them in detail, since children must learn how to describe animals.

For that reason, this week we reinforced some adjectives, like: BIG/SMALL and we introduced SHORT/TALL, as well as, we reviewed TAIL and NECK. We played “Who am I?”, where students had to guess the animal they were. It was really funny!

The animals to learn are the following ones: ELEPHANT, GIRAFFE, MONKEY, SNAKE, FROG, MOUSE, PARROT and CROCODILE.

After that, each one described a different animal.

El mundo animal es un tema interesante para los niños. Nuestros chic@s ya conocen el nombre de muchos de ellos. En la asignatura de inglés, estamos repasándolos, puesto que ya estudiamos los animales en el segundo trimestre en Ciencias de la Naturaleza. Igualmente, en Inglés vamos a profundizar el tema, ya que los niñ@s deben aprender como describir animales.

Por eso, esta semana recordamos algunos adjetivos, como: GRANDE/PEQUEÑO e introducimos BAJO/ALTO, así como repasamos COLA y CUELLO. Jugamos a “¿Quién soy?”, donde los niñ@s tenían que adivinar el animal que eran. ¡Fue muy divertido!

Los animales a aprender son: ELEFANTE, JIRAFA, MONO, SERPIENTE, RANA, RATÓN, LORO y COCODRILO.

Después, cada uno describió un animal distinto.

SAINT VALENTINE'S DAY!

Last Wednesday, we celebrated Saint Valentine's day (February, 14th). We learnt some words related to the topic and we played some games.

After that, we took a name of our names bottle and we wrote a positive message to that child. Then, we also made a Valentine (a card) and finally we listened to this song:

El pasado miércoles celebramos el día de San Valentín (el 14 de febrero). Aprendimos algunas palabras relacionadas con el tema y jugamos algunos juegos.

Después, cogimos un nombre de nuestro bote de los nombres y escribimos un mensaje positivo a ese niñ@. Finalmente, también hicimos una tarjeta y escuchamos esta canción.

COLOURS

One of the first activities we did when we started the new school year was to review colours,  we sang the "Rainbow song" and then, we coloured our own rainbow.

Una de las primeras actividades que hicimos cuando empezamos el curso fue repasar los colores, cantar la canción "Rainbow" y después, coloreamos nuestro propio arcoíris.

We also played a lot of games with colours. One of their favourites was "the fishing game", where students had to fish the colour the teacher or the classmates said. The most difficult thing was that they had to put that colour fish inside the shark's mouth avoiding the fish fell down on the floor. It was a lot of fun!

También hicimos muchos juegos con los colores. Uno de sus favoritos era "el juego de pescar", donde los alumnos tenían que pescar el pez del color que dijera la seño o sus compañeros. Lo más difícil era que tenían que poner el pez de ese color dentro de la boca del tiburón sin que se cayera al suelo. ¡Fue muy divertido!

Another game was "Who am I?", where the students had to guess what colour they were, asking: Am I red/orange/yellow...? and the rest of the class answered: Yes, you are or No, you aren't.

Otro de los juegos fue "¿Quién soy?", donde los alumnos tenían que adivinar que color eran, preguntando: ¿Soy el rojo/naranja/amarillo...? y el resto de la clase contestaba: sí o no.
