JOAQUÍN SOROLLA: MORE PAINTINGS

As you know, we are working on Joaquín Sorolla works, collaborating with the project of our centre “The sea life”.

In last weeks, we have been working on several pictures of this important Spanish painter.

Up to this moment, we have been working in the following pictures, making our own version of these pictures and using different tecniques:

-        PASEO A ORILLAS DEL MAR (stippling technique) 

-        SALIENDO DEL BAÑO (crayons) 

-        NIÑOS EN LA PLAYA (students cut out and sand) 

-        EL BAÑO DEL CABALLO (puzzle) 

-        EL BALANDRITO (plasticine, crayons and watercolour)

Como sabéis, estamos trabajando en las obras de Joaquín Sorolla, colaborando con el proyecto de nuestro centro “La vida en el mar”.

En las últimas semanas, hemos trabajado en varios cuadros de este importante pintor español.

Hasta este momento, hemos trabajado los siguientes cuadros, haciendo nuestra propia versión de los mismos y utilizando diferentes técnicas:

JOAQUÍN SOROLLA PROJECT

This term, we started learning some Sorolla's life facts. After explaining that, we worked on some worksheets and we continued working on some of his famous paintings.

The first one was a self-portrait, and for next week we continued with one of his most famous: "Paseo a orillas del mar" (1909).

Este trimestre empezamos a trabajar algunos aspectos de la vida de Joaquín Sorolla. Después de explicarlo, trabajamos con algunas fichas y seguimos con algunos de sus cuadros más famosos.

El primero fue un autorretrato y a la semana siguiente continuamos con una de sus obras más famosas: "Paseo a orillas del mar" (1909).

Joaquín Sorolla was an important Spanish painter. He was born in Valencia.

Sorolla is known as the 'painter of the sea'.

This Sorolla's self-portrait is the own version of one of our students.

We have made this famous painting, using the stippling technique.

This second term, we are going to work on a famous Spanish painter, Joaquín Sorolla. Children will work some of his paintings and they also learn some important facts about his life. I will post all the works that children develop in relation to this artist.

Este segundo trimestre, vamos a trabajar a un famoso pintor español, Joaquín Sorolla. Los niños trabajarán algunos de sus cuadros y también aprenderán algunos hechos importantes de su vida. Voy a publicar todos los trabajos que hagan los niños sobre este artista.

CHRISTMAS!

This is one part of the activities we did in English related to Christmas. From the beginning of December we had an Advent Calendar in our classroom. Each day the helper opened a square to get a small gift, and also we counted how many days left to the Christmas Day!

Esta es una parte de las actividades que hicimos en inglés para navidad. Desde el principio del mes de diciembre tuvimos un calendario de adviento en nuestra clase. Cada día, el ayudante abría una casilla para conseguir un pequeño detalle y también contábamos cuántos días quedaban para ¡el día navidad!

We learned some words related to Christmas vocabulary and played several games. We watched the following video, too.

Aprendimos algunas palabras relacionadas con el vocabulario de navidad e hicimos varios juegos. También vimos el siguiente vídeo.

We decorated our classroom doors.

Decoramos las puertas de nuestra clase.

Then, we also learned some words of toys and we could write our English letter to Santa.

Después, aprendimos algunas palabras de juguetes, así que, pudimos escribir nuestra carta a Papá Noel en inglés.

Finally, in Arts&Crafts we made a Santa's face, with some recycled materials, to hang it on the door of our houses.

Por último, en plástica hicimos una cara de Papá Noel, con algunos materiales reciclados, para colgarla en la puerta de nuestras casas.

AUTUMN LEAVES

As you know, we are in AUTUMN. To remember parts of the face, we have done in Arts&Crafts these amusing autumn leaves which are decorating the windows in our class in this beautiful season.

Como ya sabéis,  estamos en OTOÑO. Para repasar las partes de la cara, hemos hecho en plástica esta simpáticas hojas de otoño que están decorando las ventanas en nuestra clase en esta bonita estación.

We are also learning an autumn song in English. We have to learn it and dance it from now on to November, 14th. Our older mates are going to see how well we do it!

HALLOWEEN!

Halloween is one of the most famous festivities in England, and now, also other countries like Spain. Children love this activity, due to the mystery of it, since they are involved in a magical and paranormal world, thanks to their minds and the fabulous imagination they develop.

In our school we have been working on the Halloween festivity by means of different activities. In the English class, Halloween has a great importance, and children and I enjoy it together!

Firstly, we learnt a little bit about Halloween traditions and some words related to the topic.

Halloween es una de las fiestas más famosas en Inglaterra, y ahora, también en otros países como España. A los niños les encanta, por el misterio y por el mundo mágico y paranormal en el que se involucran, gracias a sus mentes y la imaginación que desarrollan.

En nuestro colegio, hemos trabajado la fiesta de Halloween por medio de diferentes actividades. En la clase de inglés, Halloween tiene una gran importancia, y a los niños y yo la disfrutamos juntos.

Primero, aprendimos un poco sobre las tradiciones de Halloween y algunas palabras relacionadas con el tema.

We also played some games to review the learnt vocabulary. For example, in this activity we had to guess the correct word reflected on the classroom's roof.

También jugamos a algunos juegos para repasar el vocabulario. Por ejemplo, en esta actividad tenían que adivinar la palabra reflejada en el techo de la clase.

Our classroom was also decorated with a lot of pumpkins and several monsters.

También decoramos nuestra clase con muchas calabazas y algunos monstruos.

Then, in Arts&Crafts, we made a recycled bat with a toilet paper roll. The result was amazing. Besides, our bats have a secret pocket, where we can hide our money or sweets to keep them away from others.

En plástica, hicimos un murciélago con un rollo de papel higiénico. El resultado fue asombroso. Además, nuestros murciélagos tienen un bolsillo secreto, donde podemos esconder nuestro dinero o chuches.

Last Monday, the teacher told the story "Room on the broom", written by Julia Donaldson.

HALLOWEEN PARTY

On Tuesday, we celebrated Halloween in our school, with a special party.

We played with some mystery boxes, where we had to touch some sticky, rough and pointed objects. It was really SCARY, but our children are so brave!

El martes, celebramos Halloween en nuestro colegio, con una fiesta especial.

Jugamos con algunas cajas misteriosas, donde teníamos que tocar algunos objetos pegajosos, ásperos y puntiagudos. ¡ Daba miedo, pero nuestros niños son muy valientes!

Older students played the "mummy game" in the playground. They had to make a mummy in a few minutes, playing in teams. The fastest team was the winner.

Los alumnos mayores jugaron en el patio al "juego de la momia". Tenían que hacer una momia en pocos minutos, jugando por equipos. El ganador era el equipo más rápido.
